What Tide Oracle is — and is not

Tide Oracle presents Mazu kau chim, a traditional Chinese lot-drawing practice, as an online cultural and self-reflection experience. You ask a question, draw a numbered lot, and receive a written interpretation of the corresponding classical verse. Some interpretation content is generated automatically by a large language model.

The service is offered for entertainment, cultural interest, and self-reflection. It is not a prediction of the future, and it is not medical, mental health, legal, financial, investment, or any other professional advice. Nothing on this site is a substitute for a qualified professional, and no outcome is promised or guaranteed.

Interpretations may vary for the same or similar questions, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or simply not applicable to your situation. Treat them as a starting point for your own thinking, not as an answer — you remain responsible for your own decisions, and should seek a qualified professional when you need one.

This service is not intended for emergencies. If you or someone else may be facing an immediate risk to personal safety, or a medical or mental health crisis, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional rather than relying on this service.

Who may use it

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a Plus subscription. Tide Oracle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow them to use it. Users aged 13 to 17 may use the free features only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and may not purchase a subscription.

Access and sign-in

There are no passwords and no user accounts in the usual sense. Access is tied to your email address: you request a code, we email it, and entering it sets a signed, HttpOnly session cookie in your browser. Anyone with access to your email inbox can therefore sign in as you — keep that inbox secure, and do not use or share access tied to someone else’s email without their authorization.

Subscription and usage limits

Tide Oracle Plus costs US$6.99 per month. A valid payment method is collected at checkout and billing starts when you subscribe. Plus renews each billing cycle until you cancel. Applicable taxes may be charged on top of the listed price, depending on your region. The free daily draw on the homepage is separate from Plus and is not a Stripe trial.

Plus currently lets you ask about 1 category per day and draw up to 15 signs for it, while saving your questions and interpretations to a private timeline. These usage limits are part of the product design and may be adjusted as the service evolves; if a change materially affects paid service, we will notify you in a reasonable manner.

Payment

Plus payments are processed through Stripe. For transactions processed via Stripe Managed Payments, Stripe acts as the merchant of record and is responsible for related payment processing and applicable indirect taxes. Your payment card details are provided directly to Stripe; we do not directly obtain or store your complete payment card data.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refund eligibility and specific steps are covered on the Refunds and Cancellation page — nothing here limits any refund or other consumer right you have under applicable law.

Your content

The questions and other original content you submit remain yours. You grant us the rights reasonably necessary to operate the service: to store and process this content, to send it to our AI provider so an interpretation can be generated, to display it back to you, and to maintain your private timeline.

Sharing

Your private timeline and the interpretations in it are not public by default. If you choose to share one, we generate an unlisted link that anyone holding it can open without signing in — please do not share anything containing information you would not want a stranger to see. You can unshare it at any time, which invalidates the link, though we cannot undo anything already viewed, copied, or saved while it was active.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• resell or redistribute Tide Oracle’s interpretation content in bulk, or offer it as your own paid interpretation service
• use bots, scripts, or other automated means to draw signs in bulk, or to scrape or collect content from the site
• attempt to bypass usage limits, security mechanisms, or access controls
• attempt to access non-public systems, other users’ content, or data you are not authorized to access
• interfere with the normal operation of the site, servers, network, or other users’ use of Tide Oracle
• impersonate another person, or use another person’s email or access without authorization
• use the service for illegal, fraudulent, or harassing purposes, or to infringe on others’ rights
• use Tide Oracle to provide professional advice to others, or claim that its output constitutes such advice

Restricting or ending access

If we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, abused the service, or endangered the safety or rights of Tide Oracle, other users, or third parties, or if required by law, we may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access. If we permanently terminate a paid subscription, whether any refund is due for unused time is determined by applicable law, the reason for termination, and our Refunds and Cancellation Policy.

The site’s own content

The classical verses are traditional material handed down over generations, not something we claim to own. Everything else on this site — the translations, cultural notes, page text, visual design, brand elements, and code — is protected by applicable intellectual property law and belongs to us or our licensors. Except as permitted by law or separately authorized, it may not be copied, modified, distributed, or used in bulk for commercial purposes.

Availability and changes

We make reasonable efforts to keep Tide Oracle running, but do not guarantee it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We may modify, add to, restrict, suspend, or discontinue features, and may update these terms; if a change is material, we will say so on this page and update the date at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it, except where the law requires us to obtain your consent separately.

Disclaimer

Tide Oracle is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability, uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or whether an AI interpretation applies to your personal situation. We do not guarantee that any sign, interpretation, or other content will produce a particular outcome, and none should be treated as a guarantee about future events.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from your use or inability to use Tide Oracle, or for decisions you make in reliance on a sign, AI interpretation, or other content on the site. Where liability cannot be fully excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) US$50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities, so the above may not fully apply to you, and nothing here affects consumer rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If mandatory consumer protection law where you live grants you additional rights, these terms do not take those non-waivable rights away.

Other terms

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refunds and Cancellation Policy, make up the whole agreement between you and us about Tide Oracle. If any part is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not immediately enforcing a right under these terms does not mean we give it up.
